ASU Network Access for Game Consoles

To connect an Xbox, Playstation, Wii, or any other internet-enabled device to the ASU network it is recommended that you connect via a wired connection using an Ethernet cable. If you need to connect your console to wirelessly, you will first need to register its wireless Media Access Control (MAC) address with ASU. This is a unique hardware address for your system and registering it will associate it with your ASURITE ID. Then connect your device to the wireless ‘asu guest’ network.
Note that some devices requiring a lower data rate such as the Nintendo Wii and older Playstation consoles cannot connect to ASU wireless networks and must connect via a Wired Connection using an Ethernet cable.

To register your device, please see How Do I Use the ASU MyDevices Portal to Register My Network Devices?

Note: The ASU network environment is not guaranteed to work with all gaming platforms. Issues experienced should be reported to the ASU Help Center, but the University cannot promise that the system will have the same online performance as on a private home network.

If you use your gaming system on WiFi and experience issues, be aware that ASU Student Housing rooms wired Ethernet connections are specifically optimized for gaming systems.   This cannot be done on the Enterprise WiFi.   When migrating from WiFi gaming to wired Ethernet, make sure the game console WiFi is disabled, plug in the Ethernet cable and restart the gaming console.
