Information
As a first-time freshman, you must pay an enrollment deposit of $300 by May 1 if enrolling for the fall or December 1 for spring. The enrollment deposit is required in order to sign up for New Student Orientation, secure a Sun Devil ID card and make housing/meal plan selections. Visit the Freshman Enrollment Deposit website for more information.

Enrollment deposits may be deferred until mid-August only if you are an Arizona resident, who is Federal Pell Grant eligible.

To determine your Federal Pell Grant eligibility, you must file the FAFSA, submit any requested documents, receive your Financial Aid Notification and see the Federal Pell Grant is listed as an award. No other types of awards qualify you to defer your enrollment deposit, including institutional and private scholarships.

You may initiate the deferment request by signing in to My ASU and clicking on the Pay Enrollment Deposit Priority Task. If you are eligible to defer, a Request a delay of payment link will be available in your Pay Enrollment Deposit Priority Task. Please be aware that if your fall aid is not enough to cover your fall charges, including the deferred enrollment deposit, you are responsible for paying the remaining charges by the applicable due date.

Out of state students must pay the enrollment deposit out of pocket. Payments may be made by any of the following methods:
  • Online: Online payments are accepted through My ASU from the My Admission and Orientation box. Only Visa and MasterCard debit and credit cards are accepted.
  • By mail: Checks made out to Arizona State University can be sent to: ASU New Student and Family Programs, P.O. Box 872201, Tempe, AZ 85287-2201.
  • In person: Cash and check payments are accepted by the New Student and Family Programs office located in the Memorial Union, room 310 (3rd floor).
