Information
To start the process of applying for a Parent PLUS Loan, you and your parent must complete a FAFSA and complete your financial aid file. The U.S. Department of Education will verify that you have a valid FAFSA on file as part of the credit evaluation process for your parent.

To complete the Parent PLUS Loan process, please follow the remaining steps:

Step 1 - Student: Grant your parent guest access to accept a Parent PLUS Loan by adding a guest on My ASU, under the Profile tab, in the My ASU Parent Guest Access Permission box. Be sure to specify your new guest as a parent AND grant access to the Manage Parent PLUS Loans privilege. For instructions on granting parent guest access, click here.

Step 2 - Parent: After your student completes step one, your student will need to provide you, the parent, with the validation code. You will receive an email invitation to My ASU Parent Guest Access once your student has invited you to access their records. Follow the link provided in the email invitation to the My ASU Parent Guest Activation page and enter the validation code, then click the check mark next to I Agree and click Continue. For more instructions, click here.

Step 3 - Parent: Log in to My ASU with your own parent ASURITE UserID, and click on the Accept Parent PLUS Loan link. If you have more than one student attending ASU, make sure you are viewing the correct student. Make sure all the information on the form is correct and there are no errors. Incorrect information will lead to delays and could result in your loan application being denied. Enter the amount that you would like to accept for the academic year (fall and spring) and click the continue button.

Step 4 - Parent: The parent that applied for the Parent PLUS Loan is the only parent that should complete the PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note online by logging in with the parent's Federal Student Aid ID. Please allow three to five business days for processing. If you previously borrowed a Parent PLUS Loan at ASU, you do not need to complete another MPN unless a financial endorser (i.e., co-signer) was required at the time of application. If an endorser was required, you must complete another MPN and PLUS Counseling.
