If someone has taken out Federal Direct Student, Parent or Graduate PLUS loans in your name without your knowledge or consent, contact the U.S. Department of Education at 1-800-433-3243 and your local law enforcement agency to report the theft of your identity. 

If someone has taken out a Private Education Loan in your name without your knowledge or consent, contact the lender currently holding the loan and your local law enforcement agency to report the theft of your identity. 

The Federal Trade Commission website also offers information on reporting and repairing identity theft.
