ASU participates in the Western Undergraduate Exchange program. There is no separate WUE application. You are eligible for the WUE program if you meet the following requirements:
- you are a permanent resident of Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming or the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands
AND
AND
- you are a first-time freshman with a high school GPA of 3.00 or higher in competency courses, or have an SAT score of 1180, or ACT score of 24 (not including the writing portion of these exams) or higher
OR
- you are a transfer student with an overall GPA of 2.50 or higher on a 4.00 scale in all transferable coursework
How much is WUE tuition?
The WUE tuition rate is 150 percent of Arizona resident tuition plus all applicable fees. After full-time registration (12 or more credit hours per semester) your tuition will be reduced automatically.
Am I eligible for scholarships?
WUE freshmen may be eligible for an ASU non-resident merit-based WUE scholarship. ASU will notify qualified admitted freshmen of this award in writing. You may also apply for scholarships by using the ASU Scholarship Application Portal, apply for scholarships from your academic department or college and use the ASU Scholarship Search.
How do I apply for WUE?
- Submit an application for admission, including all required supporting documents to ASU Admission Services by the preferential application date (freshman, transfer). Note that after the published dates, some ASU colleges and schools may limit admission to their program. ASU encourages you to submit your application and all supporting materials well before these dates.
- Indicate your intended ASU WUE-eligible major/program on the admission application.
- Meet all other applicable ASU admission requirements.
How do I know if I’m in the WUE program?ASU will notify you in writing if you are eligible and can participate in the WUE program. This occurs after your acceptance to ASU.
Does WUE affect financial aid awards?Yes, once placed into WUE, your financial aid budget will be reduced to reflect the lower WUE tuition rate. This may cause a reduction in your financial aid awards. WUE students are not eligible for ASU nonresident merit-based scholarships or grants. The only exception is the WUE merit scholarship for freshmen.
